Christmas Light Hanging Service in Wilbraham, MA

North Pole Lighting hangs, services, takes down, and stores Christmas lights for homes across Wilbraham.

One 413 number that gets answered, and the owner up on the ladder himself.

Christmas Light Hanging Service on the Mountain Side of Town

The Wilbraham Mountains run right through this town, and Mt. Chapin tops out at 937 feet. Houses sit at very different heights here, and a lot of them sit above the road. A Christmas light hanging service on this side of the valley plans for that first. It is the whole difference between here and the flat towns nearby, including Hampden and East Longmeadow.

We work the same way across Hampden County and this part of Western Massachusetts.

The Massachusetts Historical Commission calls this an affluent suburban town on the original Springfield to Boston corridor.

  • Three centers sit inside one town line: Main Street, North Wilbraham by the river, and Glendale in farm country
  • The showpiece old houses cluster near the Academy and Maple Street, and they carry the most trim in town
  • Small one-story bungalows came in with the trolley era, and they light very differently from a two-story colonial
  • Very little was built here between the wars, so the housing skips a generation and jumps to the postwar suburbs

A house above the road is read from below. That is a different job again when you get a hillside roofline lit.

Services for Wilbraham Homes

Being up on a hill changes the order of the work more than it changes the list.

  • Christmas Light Design A house above the road is seen from below, so the plan starts with the view up the driveway.
  • Christmas Light Installation Ladder placement on sloped ground gets worked out before the crew arrives, not on the day.
  • Christmas Light Maintenance Reachable bulbs get replaced through the season, weather and footing permitting.
  • Christmas Light Removal It comes off in January, and snow that sits longer up here pushes the date back.
  • Christmas Light Storage The strands go home with us, so nothing takes up shelf space in a hillside garage.
  • Roofline Christmas Lights Big round bulbs cut to the peaks, dormers and roof edges, which is what carries a display seen from below.
  • Bush Christmas Lights Hand-wrapped bushes anchor the bottom of the picture when the house sits well above the street.
  • Christmas Wreath Lights A lit wreath over the garage is often the first thing visible from a long driveway.

Higher Ground, More Wind, Longer Runs of Lights

A lot of Wilbraham sits on the side of a hill. Driveways run long and climb. Houses face out over the valley with nothing in front of them but air. All three are good for a display and harder for a crew. That is why the plan gets made before the ladders come off the truck.

The Atheneum Society runs the Festival of Trees at the Old Meeting House Museum. Local groups decorate the trees, and there is an ice carving demonstration. The Rotary Club lights the town tree at Gazebo Park, and both land in early December.

  • Exposed gable ends get more anchor points, because a long unsupported run is what fails first
  • A long climbing driveway changes where the cord runs and where the display starts
  • Snow sits longer on a shaded hillside roof, which pushes roof takedown later than in the valley towns

From the bottom of a long drive you often see one thing first. That is why we hang a lit wreath above the garage.

The Three Centers We Light

Wilbraham Center runs along Main Street and holds the civic buildings and the Academy. North Wilbraham grew up around the railroad and the river. Glendale stayed farm country. Mountain Road, Maple Street and Faculty Street tie the center together. Tinkham Road runs out toward Fountain Park, the old state game farm. Rice Fruit Farm has been working here since 1894 and is a reference point everybody uses.

Longmeadow, East Longmeadow, Hampden, Wilbraham, Agawam, Feeding Hills, Southwick, Westfield, and Hampden County, Massachusetts. Suffield, West Suffield, and Granby, Connecticut, in Hartford County.

Towns We Light From Here

This is the eastern end of the route, and the towns below it are minutes away.

Hampden split off from this town in 1878 and still shares its border. The route keeps going west from there, through the other towns on the run.

Wilbraham Christmas Light Hanging Service Questions

Do you hang Christmas lights in Wilbraham?

Yes, in all three centers: Wilbraham Center, North Wilbraham and Glendale.

My house sits above the road. Can you still light it?

Yes. Houses on a rise are read from below. The plan puts the weight on the roof edge and the entry.

My driveway is long and steep. Is that a problem for the truck?

No. The crew parks where the footing is safe and works up from there.

Do you cover the Glendale side of town?

Yes. There is no part of Wilbraham that gets treated as too far out.

Can you get it done before the Festival of Trees?

Usually. That runs in early December, and the weeks in front of it book up first.

Snow sticks around longer up here. When do the lights come off?

The display comes down in January. If snow is still on the roof the date moves, and on a shaded slope that can be later.

Do I need to store anything over the summer?

No. The lights are ours and they go into our storage, labeled to your address.

How do I get a quote?

Call with your address. We walk the property, look at the approach, and build the plan from what we see.

Light the House Before the Festival of Trees

The town fills up with decorated trees in early December, and most people want their own house done first. October and November are when that gets decided.
